Porridge Loaf from Hylsten Bakery


We add a toasted semolina porridge to this loaf, which gives
it an amazing crumpet like texture. Golden linseeds add a
nutty avour. Semolina is tragically underused in bread
making – it is packed full of avour and nourishment – and
by working with a local mill we can use the beautiful
semolina that would otherwise be thrown away. A perfect
partner for butter and marmalade.

We are a new sourdough bakery located in Buckfastleigh. At Hylsten we use organic, stoneground our to bake delicious,
nutritious bread with as little waste from eld to loaf as possible. e bakery and school is our way of contributing to
building a resilient local food system, to support local growers and millers, and to share our knowledge of sourdough baking
and love for good food with our community.
