We hope you’ve all been soaking up that new-found freedom. We’ve got some exciting updates, quite fitting for Earth Day, and we thought you might like to know what’s on the horizon for Veg in a Box…
The Greendale Growers Project
Having just moved into a house with a large garden, Julie and Bela wasted no time getting out there mowing, sowing and growing as quickly as they could to get ready to fill your boxes with their very own, home-grown produce! This new lil’ venture takes Veg in a Box one step further to becoming as local as we can possibly be. Picking fruit, veg and salads from our very own grounds!
Seeds, seeds, seeds
Julie and Bela have ordered absolutely thousands and thousands of these lil’ beauties from Vital Seeds based in Ashburton, Devon.
Vital Seeds was set up when they discovered the lack of UK-grown organic and open-pollinated (the natural way plants breed) seeds. When seeds are cultivated millions of miles away, it makes it difficult for them to adapt to the local climate and means we lose control of what we can grow. Vital Seeds are on a mission to cultivate every single organic seed in their catalogue and we couldn’t be prouder to support this lovely local business – growing some fabulous produce to put in your boxes each week.
Two budding growers
Julie and Bela will be taking a few days off a week and at weekends to concentrate on this new avenue of the business we’ve named The Greendale Growers Project. We’ll keep you updated over the summer with everything that’s been growing in the garden and what’s been freshly picked that week to go in your boxes…
Stay shopping local
We also want to thank you lovely lot for sticking with us now everyone’s flocking back to the supermarkets. We know it can be tempting, but at this time we need your support to keep local people in jobs.
Ordering a Veg in a Box doesn’t just mean you’re ordering your groceries, it means you’re supporting Devon bread makers, butchers, farmers, cake bakers and so many more. Right now we need to make sure Devon keeps going, as well as getting those food miles down.
So to get same delivery on your box just call before 10 am on 01392 877189.
Or simply order on the site one day, and we’ll get it to you the next.
Spring is in the air and we’ve been watching our Devon fields come to life! We’re looking forward to all the local produce this season, but we know it’s hard for a lot of families at the mo. We’re not quite out of the woods yet. So, with this in mind, we’ve freshened up our boxes – making sure they’re as affordable as poss – …
Hello my lovelies, Just thought it would be nice if I give you all a headsup in regards to the Christmas period! We’ve reached our limit for deliveries for the 19th & 21st-27th December. We at Veg In A Box think it’s extremely important to support local businesses. To be honest it’s pretty much one of the core reasons why we started it. We’ve been working with our good friends Veysey Of Cullompton pretty much since the beginning, they’re lovely people, passionate about their trade and let’s face it the …
We still can’t believe it, what an honour and to say that I’m chuffed is a serious understatement! The funny thing is we had absolutely no idea we were even nominated! It wasn’t until a lovely lady by the name of Alice who works for the Guardian got in contact to tell us that we …
